How to change your Samsung ringtone to a song

On Samsung Galaxy, open Settings → Sounds and vibration → Ringtone, then use Add to choose music stored on the phone. Select the SIM first if your device asks.

Select the saved audio

  1. Save the audio on your Galaxy phone and check that it plays.
  2. Open Settings, then Sounds and vibration, then Ringtone.
  3. If your model presents separate SIM choices, choose the line you want to change.
  4. Tap Add (+) and select the saved song. Allow file access if Samsung asks.
  5. If Play selected highlights only appears, turn it off to play from the file’s beginning, or on to use the picker’s chosen highlight.
  6. Tap Done to save your choice.

For a specific chorus, trim your own excerpt first and turn the highlights option off so the file starts where you intended. To choose a built-in tone instead, tap its name in the Ringtone list and go back after selecting it. Downloading another app is unnecessary for that change.

For one caller

Samsung’s Contacts app can give a person their own sound. Open the contact and look for Change ringtone/vibration in More options. Contacts stored only on a SIM can have limitations; move or sync the contact to a supported account or phone storage before expecting all customization fields.

Why it still rings differently

Check whether the test call uses the SIM you changed and whether that caller has an individual override. A messaging or internet-calling app is a separate case. Changing the system call ringtone does not necessarily change WhatsApp calls, message alerts or the alarm clock.

If the picker cannot find the audio, confirm it is a normal local file rather than a streaming download. Keep a safe copy while troubleshooting. If a default system tone rings but your custom sound does not, the file or its selection is the next thing to investigate.

Use a Ringy sound

Find the exact title in Ringy and follow the options available in the Android app. After setup, return to Samsung’s ringtone picker to confirm the selected name. The store’s Open button can launch an installed app, but it does not prove which ringtone is selected inside it.
