Set your own ringtone on Google Pixel

On Pixel, use Settings → Sound & vibration → Phone ringtone and choose your own sound through the personal-sounds picker. A downloaded local audio file is easier to select than a cloud-only item.

In this guide
  1. Prepare and select the sound
  2. Keep calls, alerts and alarms separate
  3. If the new tone is silent
  4. Find a remix first

Prepare and select the sound

Save a permitted audio file to the phone, then preview it in your file manager. In Pixel’s phone-ringtone settings, look for My Sounds or the available personal-sounds category and its add control. Menu labels can change across Android releases. Select the file and complete the Save step if the picker presents one.

For a file you can already see in Files by Google, its Set as ringtone menu is another documented route. It may ask for permission to modify system settings. This is the action that changes the device setting; playing a file by itself does not.

Keep calls, alerts and alarms separate

Phone ringtone changes incoming phone calls. The default notification sound controls a different kind of alert, and individual apps can have their own notification categories. Your Clock alarm has a sound selector for each alarm. Check the category you actually meant to change before repeating the import.

If the new tone is silent

Start with the ringtone volume and active sound mode. Test a built-in sound in the same picker. If that works, compare the custom file’s preview and confirm it is selected. Check any contact override if the problem affects only one caller. Avoid deleting the source file during this check.

Find a remix first

Ringy’s catalogue pages keep the exact version title visible. Open the Android app and search that title, then complete the app’s available setup flow. If a link sends you to Google Play, use Open for an installed app or install it and return to the saved title.
