Open the right Ringy ringtone from a share link

Keep the original share URL and exact ringtone title. Opening a link from another app, tapping a button inside a browser and opening Ringy after installation can behave differently.

An external tap

On supported iPhone versions with Ringy installed, an associated rin.gy link can hand the sound’s slug to the app. Whether iOS opens the app also depends on the browsing context and the user’s previous choice to stay on the website. A website cannot promise that every tap overrides that choice.

Some older share-page titles differ from the current app catalogue. If the page shows a Name in Ringy field, use that name when searching in the app. The original share URL still identifies the same entry.

A tap inside the browser

The Listen in Ringy button uses the established associated Ringy host and same sound path. If the app opens, confirm the exact title. If you remain on the page, use the store link or open Ringy and search the title. No audio needs to load on this page for you to identify the sound.

Installing the app

The store is a fallback, not proof of a completed install or guaranteed deferred deep link. After installation, return to the saved share URL. Current Android versions with link support can receive the same sound path. In Chrome, the Listen in Ringy button attempts to open the app and uses Google Play when no compatible app handles the link. Older app versions and other browser contexts may still require searching the current app title.

Social in-app browsers

If TikTok or another social browser traps the navigation, use its menu to open the page in your normal browser. The rin.gy/app social download helper remains available for the general app-install flow. A ringtone-specific link is more useful when you want to preserve a sound’s identity.

Missing or older versions

A retired or unavailable sound should not be silently replaced with another recording. Use the related collection or contact support with the original link. If you report a problem, include whether the app was installed and where the tap began; those details distinguish different handoff failures.
